It is with heavy hearts for all the members of the Newberg Boat Club (NBC) and Columbia Outboard Racing Association (CORA) to feel it necessary to cancel the “72 nd ” Memorial Weekend Boat Races for 2020.
Not knowing if COVID 19 will be under control by the end of May.
Not knowing when Governor Brown may lift the ban on gatherings of more than 10 people.
Not knowing if the tremendous amount of organizations and individual people we count on to volunteer each year would be there to help out.
Not knowing how many participants and spectators would be in attendance.
This was a very hard decision to reach, but we feel it is the right decision under the circumstances. Keeping everyone safe and healthy is of our utmost concern. We now will look forward to our “73 rd ” year and hope you will be there by our side when we return in 2021.
